Remote DBA

It is not uncommon that an organization has an IT strategy, that does not include the Oracle Database, but then business requirements dictates that a system based on the Oracle Database is deployed.

In such situations the operational responsibility for the Oracle Database typically will be placed together with the operations of other servers – without necessarily having sufficient Oracle skills present.

Some times it might even happen that the operational responisibility stays with the system owner – again without necessarily having sufficient Oracle skills available.

In such cases basic operational procedures usually are described and followed – but beyond this any requirement for DBA activities can not be serviced (like introducing mandatory security patching or solving operational issues).
